My Girl Scout Story...
Many people say that I have a strong sense of community. I truly do want to make the world a better place than when I found it. Even if that is for just one person.
As I'm covered in girl scout cookie crumbs, I wanted to get a little serious. I know, I don't do that online too much.
When I was a young girl I went door to door selling girl scout cookies. I remember pulling my Radio Flyer Classic Red Wagon determined to sell every last box. My mom walked along, sidewalk after sidewalk, pounding the pavement.
I sold the most cookies and won the trip to DISNEY!
Now, let it be known that I didn't exactly have the smoothest of childhoods. Many of those imprints are still present today. Holding onto the accomplishment of selling the most cookies is something I've always been very proud of.
Many people say that I'm an excellent salesperson, provided I truly believe in the product. Which leads me to these cookies and the importance of the Girl Scouts.
Here are what some of the tasty lemon-ups have to say:
I am Gutsy. I am Creative. I am a Go Getter. I am Strong. I am a Risktaker. I am a Leader. I am an Innovator.
I believe these are ALL true! The values that the Girl Scouts taught me have lasted a lifetime. They instilled a sense of social morality and compassion.
It is worth noting that there was a suspicious amount of cookies in our pantry that year. But that's ok. Even an elf can use a little help from a friend. We didn't make the trip to Disney, as little did I know we were about to embark on a journey to the Midwest. Enter, Illinois. But that story is for another day.
Support your local Girl Scouts in any way you can. Buy the cookies, make the donation, take the pledge.
